Frequently asked questions

What is the MXC5771 lower door hinge for?

The MXC5771 is the lower front door hinge. It mounts to the A-pillar and, together with the upper hinge, carries the door's weight and keeps the door gap and alignment correct on the front door.

Which models and VIN ranges does it fit?

It fits the Discovery 1 (1989-1998) from VIN FA393361 to WA799999, and the Range Rover Classic four-door Station Wagon (1986-1994) from VIN FA374642. Check your chassis number, since fitment is tied to these VIN ranges.

How many hinges does a door need?

Each front door uses two hinges, an upper and this lower one. This part covers the lower position only, so if both hinges are worn you'll need the matching upper hinge as well to hang the door properly.

Is replacing the hinge a DIY job?

It's typically a home job with hand tools, but the door usually needs supporting on a jack or stand while the hinge is unbolted, and the door gap often needs resetting afterwards so it closes cleanly.
