Distributor Rotor Arm for the Freelander 1 ignition system.

The rotor arm fits onto the distributor shaft and rotates inside the distributor cap. Its tip passes each cap terminal in sequence, transferring the high-voltage ignition pulse from the coil to the correct spark plug lead in firing order. Inspect and replace at regular service intervals as part of a routine distributor service. For use with the 1.8L petrol engine.

Frequently asked questions

What does the distributor rotor arm do?
The distributor rotor arm sits on the distributor shaft and spins inside the cap, passing each terminal in turn. It hands the high-voltage pulse from the coil to the right spark plug lead in firing order on the Freelander 1 1.8L petrol ignition.
Which Freelander and engine does this rotor arm fit?
This rotor arm fits the Land Rover Freelander 1 (1996-2006) with the 1.8L K-series 4-cylinder petrol engine. It's part of the distributor ignition on that engine. Use your VIN to confirm before ordering.
What are the signs of a worn rotor arm?
A worn or tracked rotor arm typically causes misfires, rough running, and hard starting, especially when damp. Carbon tracking or a burnt tip lets the spark jump to the wrong terminal, so it's usually renewed as part of a distributor service.
Should the rotor arm be replaced with the distributor cap?
Yes, the rotor arm is typically replaced together with the distributor cap and leads, since they wear together and share the same service. Fitting a fresh cap over a worn rotor arm usually brings misfires back fairly quickly.
