Spark plug for the ignition system.
The plug threads into the cylinder head and fires the compressed air and fuel charge in the combustion chamber, driven through the ignition circuit from the coil. Fitted to 1.8 litre 4-cylinder K Series and 2.5 litre KV6 petrol engines.
Spark plugs are a service item and are replaced as a complete set, so that every cylinder runs the same electrode condition and gap. Check the electrode gap against the engine specification before fitting, and torque the plugs to specification - the aluminium cylinder heads used on these engines are easily damaged by over-tightening.
