PHD500340 - Raised Air Intake Kit

A raised air intake moves the engine's air pickup point from the wing up to roof height. That keeps the intake clear of water when wading and pulls in cleaner air in dusty conditions, since air at roof level typically carries less dust and spray than air taken from beside the wheel.

The Defender from 2007 to 2016, from VIN 7A000001 onwards. That's the Puma era Defender, and the intake is matched to that airbox and wing arrangement. The alternative part number listed for this kit is LR008383.

It typically runs up the side of the front wing and along the A pillar, connecting into the standard airbox inlet. The top of the intake sits at roof level, which is what gives it the advantage over the standard wing mounted pickup.

It's within reach of a competent home mechanic, but it usually involves drilling the front wing to mount the intake and pass the ducting through. That isn't reversible, so measure and dry fit carefully. Every joint needs sealing properly or the intake pulls unfiltered air.
