Belt Tensioner for the auxiliary drive belt of the Td4 2.0 diesel engine, in the accessory-drive configuration fitted with air conditioning.

The tensioner maintains correct tension on the auxiliary (serpentine) belt that drives the engine accessories, taking up slack so the belt grips its pulleys without slipping. The air-conditioned drive layout routes the belt around the additional A/C compressor pulley, and this tensioner is matched to that configuration.

A worn tensioner bearing or weak spring allows the belt to slip, causing squeal, accelerated belt wear and loss of accessory drive.

Frequently asked questions

What does this Td4 belt tensioner do?
This belt tensioner keeps the correct tension on the auxiliary serpentine belt of the Freelander 1 Td4 2.0 diesel. It takes up slack so the belt grips its pulleys without slipping, keeping the engine accessories driven reliably.
Why does this tensioner specify 'with air con'?
The air-conditioned Td4 routes its auxiliary belt around an extra A/C compressor pulley, so the belt path and tensioner differ from non-A/C cars. This tensioner is matched to the air-con drive layout, so confirm your Freelander has A/C before ordering.
What are the signs this tensioner is worn?
A worn Td4 tensioner usually shows as belt squeal, a rough or noisy bearing, and in bad cases belt slip that affects the driven accessories. A seizing tensioner can also accelerate belt wear.
