The idler pulley guides the poly-V accessory drive belt around the ancillary layout, maintaining correct belt routing and wrap angle across the driven components. It runs on a sealed bearing and presents a smooth running surface for the belt, keeping the belt path stable as the ancillaries are driven. Applies to engines built with no air conditioning or with manual air conditioning.

Should the drive belt be changed at the same time?
