Steering Lever - RHD for the Adwest power steering box, supplied with the ball joint fitted.

Also known as the drop arm, the lever clamps onto the splined output shaft of the steering box and links to the drag link through its tapered ball joint, converting the rotary output of the box into the linear movement that steers the road wheels. A worn or play-affected ball joint at this point introduces free play into the steering, so the lever is renewed as a unit. For right-hand-drive applications.

Frequently asked questions

What is the steering lever or drop arm and what does it do?
The steering lever, also called the drop arm, clamps onto the splined output shaft of the Adwest power steering box. It links to the drag link through a tapered ball joint, converting the box's rotation into the linear movement that steers the road wheels. This is the right-hand-drive version.
Does this steering lever come with the ball joint fitted?
Yes, this drop arm is supplied with the ball joint already fitted, so it's renewed as a complete unit. A worn ball joint at this point adds free play to the steering, which is why the lever is replaced rather than just the joint.
Is this for right-hand drive or left-hand drive?
This is the right-hand-drive (RHD) steering lever for the Adwest power steering box. Left-hand-drive vehicles use a different drop arm, so confirm your steering configuration before ordering.
Which Land Rovers does this drop arm fit?
It fits RHD models with the Adwest power steering box: Defender 1987-2016 (Puma from VIN 7A000001), Discovery 1 (1989-1998), and Range Rover Classic (1970-1994). Use your VIN to confirm the steering box type fitted.
