The main bearings are the replaceable shell bearings that support the crankshaft in the cylinder block main bearing housings, maintaining the running clearance and providing a lubricated bearing surface for the crankshaft main journals. This set is supplied in standard size, for use with a crankshaft whose main journals are unworn or have not been reground.
