Carburettor Jet Needle for the 3.5L V8 twin-carburettor petrol engine. The tapered needle is carried in the carburettor piston and rides within the jet, where its profile meters the fuel flow against airflow as the piston rises and falls.

The needle taper sets the fuelling across the rev range, so a worn or incorrect needle disturbs the air/fuel mixture and running. Renew on overhaul or when re-profiling the carburettors during a tune.

Frequently asked questions

What is the carburettor jet needle (RTC6436) used for?
The carburettor jet needle meters fuel on the 3.5L V8 twin-carburettor petrol engine fitted to the Land Rover Discovery 1 (1989-1998). It's carried in the carburettor piston and rides within the jet, where its taper sets fuelling against airflow as the piston rises and falls.
How many jet needles are needed for the twin-carburettor V8?
The 3.5L V8 runs two carburettors, so you'll typically need two matched needles to re-needle the engine as a pair. RTC6436 is supplied as a single needle, so order the quantity your job requires.
Why would the jet needle need replacing?
A worn or incorrect jet needle disturbs the air/fuel mixture and upsets running on the 3.5L V8. It's typically renewed during a carburettor overhaul, or when re-profiling the carbs during a tune. The taper wears where the needle rides against the jet.
