Instrument Cluster Bulb Holder for the instrument cluster, part of the cluster illumination and warning-light circuit.

The holder pushes into the rear of the instrument cluster housing and retains a bayonet bulb against the printed circuit, completing the electrical contact and locating the bulb behind the relevant dial or warning legend. It is fitted for panel backlighting and for gauge and tell-tale lamps, and is replaced where a holder has cracked, corroded or lost its grip on the bulb.

Frequently asked questions

What is the instrument cluster bulb holder (RTC6579) for?
The instrument cluster bulb holder pushes into the rear of the instrument cluster on the Land Rover Discovery 1 (1989-1991, to VIN LA081991). It retains a bayonet bulb against the printed circuit, completing the contact and locating the bulb behind a dial or warning legend for panel and tell-tale lighting.
Which Discovery 1 does the RTC6579 holder fit?
RTC6579 fits the early Discovery 1 (1989-1991) up to VIN LA081991. The cluster and its bulb holders changed during the Discovery 1 run, so check your VIN against the LA081991 break before ordering, as later vehicles use a different holder.
Why replace the bulb holder rather than just the bulb?
Replace the bulb holder when it's cracked, corroded or has lost its grip on the bulb, causing flickering or dead cluster illumination that a new bulb alone won't fix. The holder completes the electrical contact against the printed circuit, so a poor holder breaks the lighting circuit.
