Contact Breaker Set for the Ducellier distributor fitted to the 2.25-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. It is the mechanical switch in the ignition primary circuit, opening and closing against the distributor cam to collapse the coil field and generate the spark.

The set is specific to the Ducellier distributor and does not interchange with the Lucas pattern used on other 2.25-litre petrol distributors. The gap set at the contacts determines dwell angle and therefore the accuracy of ignition timing.

Contact faces pit and erode with use, causing misfire, hard starting and timing drift. Renewal at service intervals, together with the condenser, maintains a consistent spark.
