Front Brake Caliper - left-hand side, part of the front disc brake assembly.

The caliper houses the hydraulic piston that clamps the brake pads against the disc when the master cylinder pressurises the front circuit, and carries the bleed screw and the flexible hose connection.

This is a handed component: the hose port and bleed screw positions differ between sides, so the left-hand caliper is not interchangeable with the right. The right-hand equivalent is SEG100220.

Frequently asked questions

What is the front brake caliper and what does it do?
This front brake caliper is the left-hand unit on the Freelander 1. It houses the hydraulic piston that clamps the brake pads against the front disc when the master cylinder pressurises the front circuit, and it carries the bleed screw and the flexible hose connection.
Is this caliper left or right hand, and are the two interchangeable?
This is the left-hand front caliper. It is a handed part, because the hose port and bleed screw positions differ between sides, so it is not interchangeable with the right-hand caliper. The right-hand side is supplied as a separate part.
What are the signs a front caliper needs replacing?
A front caliper usually needs replacing when the piston seizes or drags, when the seals leak fluid, or when the pads on one side wear unevenly. A caliper that sticks typically causes pulling to one side under braking and localised overheating.
How do I confirm this caliper fits my Freelander 1?
This left-hand front caliper fits the Freelander 1 up to VIN YA999999 (up to 2001). Confirm your VIN against the fitment note before ordering, as later cars use a different front caliper.
