Genuine Part
Genuine: Original manufacturer part. This product is the original part designed and produced by the vehicle manufacturer.
Intake Air Valve Assembly is the rubber dust valve fitted to the base of the air cleaner housing in the engine air intake system.

This one-way flap valve opens under the pressure pulses of the intake to expel dust and water that collect in the bottom of the air cleaner housing, helping keep the filter element clean and prolong its service life, while sealing against unfiltered air being drawn in between pulses.

A perished or split valve lets unfiltered air and debris bypass the filter; fitting a new valve restores correct dust ejection and sealing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the STC1120 intake air valve used for?
The STC1120 intake air valve is the one-way rubber dust valve at the base of the air cleaner housing on Land Rover Defender 1987-2006 and Discovery 1 air intake systems. It opens under intake pulses to expel dust and water from the housing, keeping the filter cleaner, and seals against unfiltered air between pulses.
Where is the intake air valve located on the vehicle?
The intake air valve sits at the bottom of the air cleaner housing in the engine air intake system. It points downward so debris and moisture collecting in the base of the housing get pushed out, rather than reaching the filter element or being drawn into the engine.
What are the signs the intake air valve needs replacing?
A perished, split or hardened intake air valve is the usual sign it needs replacing. When it fails it stops ejecting dust and can let unfiltered air bypass the filter. Fitting a new valve restores correct dust ejection and sealing on the air cleaner housing.
Which Land Rover models does the STC1120 valve fit?
The STC1120 valve fits the Land Rover Defender 1987-2006 (diesel and V8 petrol) and the Discovery 1 V8 with the air cleaner assembly. Check your air cleaner housing matches before ordering, as intake layouts vary by engine.
