Fuel Tank Sender Unit for the petrol fuel level sensing circuit.
The sender uses a float arm connected to a variable resistor to measure the fuel level within the tank. As the float rises and falls with the fuel level, the resistance value changes and transmits a proportional electrical signal to the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster.
