SU Float Needle Valve regulates the fuel level in the carburettor float chamber on the 3.5L V8 petrol fitted with SU twin carburettors.
The needle is controlled by the float: as fuel is drawn off the float drops and the needle lifts from its seat to admit fuel from the pump, then reseats as the level rises, holding the chamber at the set height. A worn needle or seat leads to flooding or fuel starvation.
