Propshaft Gaiter is the rubber boot that seals the sliding (slip) joint of the propshaft, retaining grease on the splines and excluding water, grit and road debris.

It fits over the telescoping splined section that allows the shaft to change length as the suspension and axle move, protecting the joint and maintaining lubrication.

Frequently asked questions

What does the STC2955 propshaft gaiter do?
The STC2955 propshaft gaiter is the rubber boot that seals the sliding (slip) joint of the propshaft, keeping grease on the splines and water, grit and road debris out. It fits Defender (1987-2006), Discovery 1, Range Rover Classic and Range Rover P38.
Does this gaiter fit the front and rear propshaft?
On Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic this gaiter suits both the front and rear propshaft sliding joints. On the Range Rover P38 it fits the rear propshaft only. Confirm which shaft you're working on, as the slip joint arrangement varies between models.
When should the propshaft gaiter be replaced?
Replace the gaiter once it's split, cracked or slinging grease, which lets water and grit reach the splines. A perished gaiter typically leads to a dry, worn slip joint and driveline vibration. Fitting a new gaiter and re-greasing the joint restores protection on these Land Rover propshafts.
