Distributor Cap for the ignition distributor assembly on the Rover V8 petrol engine.

The cap locates over the distributor body and carries the eight HT terminals together with the central king lead terminal. The rotor arm sweeps beneath it, transferring the high-tension pulse from the coil to each spark plug lead in firing order.

Carbon tracking, hairline cracking or corroded terminals allow the spark to leak to earth, showing as a misfire, rough idle or hard starting. The cap is normally renewed together with the rotor arm. Moulded in black.
