Brake Caliper Bracket - Rear - the fixed support bracket of the rear sliding-caliper brake assembly.

The bracket bolts to the rear hub carrier and carries the caliper body on two guide pins, letting the caliper float across the disc while the bracket itself holds the pad abutments and takes the braking torque.

Guide pin bores and pad abutment slots are the wear points. Corrosion building up behind the pad backing plates jams the pads in the slots and stops the caliper releasing cleanly, which shows as tapered pad wear and a wheel that is noticeably warm after a run. Clean and re-grease the guide pins whenever pads are renewed, and replace the bracket if the abutment faces are pitted deeply enough to hold the pads out of square.
