Extreme Long Travel Shock Absorber damps the suspension on vehicles set up for extended axle articulation, controlling spring and wheel movement to keep the tyre loaded over very uneven ground.

It is built 5 in (127 mm) longer than a standard damper, giving the extra travel required by a long-travel suspension set-up. It mounts between the axle and the chassis shock mountings.

Frequently asked questions

What is the TF122LT extreme long travel shock absorber for?
The TF122LT is an extreme long travel shock absorber for vehicles set up for extended axle articulation. It damps the suspension to keep the tyre loaded over very uneven ground. Built 5 in (127 mm) longer than a standard damper, it suits long-travel setups on the Defender up to 2016, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
How is this different from a standard shock absorber?
The TF122LT is built 5 in (127 mm) longer than a standard damper, giving the extra travel a long-travel suspension setup needs. A standard-length shock would limit articulation or top out on a lifted vehicle. Only fit this where your suspension is set up for the extra travel.
What are the signs this shock absorber needs replacing?
A worn long-travel shock typically shows as a bouncy or uncontrolled ride, reduced damping over rough ground, or fluid leaking from the damper body. On articulation-focused setups, weak dampers let the axle move unchecked. They usually wear gradually, so replace them as a pair to keep damping even.
Will the TF122LT fit a standard-height Land Rover?
The TF122LT is intended only for vehicles with a long-travel suspension setup, not standard ride height. Fitting a +5 in damper to a standard vehicle would leave it over-long and poorly controlled. Confirm your suspension is built for the extra travel before ordering, and replace shocks in pairs.
