TF167 - Wading Kit – V8
The axle, gearbox and transfer casings vent to atmosphere through breather lines. When a hot casing is submerged the air inside it contracts and draws water in through the breather; routing that outlet above the wading line removes the path. This kit replaces the short factory breather runs with extended lines gathered into a single high-level outlet, normally taken up the side of a snorkel.
The kit comprises two 90 degree axle breather fittings, 6mm breather pipe, a straight connector for the gearbox breather, a four-into-one manifold connector, and 8mm pipe for the run from the manifold to the raised outlet. The original banjo-bolt axle breathers are removed from the front and rear axles and the 90 degree fittings take their place, so the 6mm pipe pushes straight into the axle casing.
On V8 petrol engines the ignition system is the main vulnerability in deep water; the manufacturer recommends sealing the electrical connections and using a sound ignition lead set, distributor cap and plugs alongside raised breathers. Pipe runs should be secured without pinching, and checked periodically for blockages.
