Snatch Block - pulley block for the winching and recovery rigging kit, used to double a winch line or to redirect the pull around an obstacle.

Swing-out side plates pivot at the pulley shaft, so the block can be opened onto the winch cable and closed again without unspooling the winch or detaching the hook. The spindle carries a grease nipple, allowing the sheave bearing surface to be re-greased in service rather than running dry after mud and water ingress.

Rigged to an anchor point with a bow or soft shackle, a doubled line through the block increases the pull available at the vehicle while halving line speed.
