Track rod end pin nut for the steering linkage.

Frequently asked questions

What is the TRE 80N and what is it for?
The TRE 80N is the pin nut that secures a TRE 80 track rod end onto the steering arm. It's the nut only, not the complete track rod end. Typically used on Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic steering.
Can the track rod end nut be reused?
The TRE 80N is a nylock (prevailing torque) nut, so it's typically treated as single-use. Once removed it's best replaced, since the nylon locking insert loses grip after the first fit. Renew it whenever the track rod end is disturbed.
How should the track rod end nut be tightened?
Fit the TRE 80N and tighten it to your workshop manual's torque figure, since the track rod end is a steering safety component. It secures the tapered pin into the steering arm on Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
