Aftermarket Part

Alternator Oil Feed Pipe supplies pressurised engine oil to the vacuum pump integrated at the rear of the alternator, on the Td5 2.5L 5-cylinder turbo diesel.

It carries oil from the engine feed to lubricate the vacuum pump, which generates the vacuum used by the brake servo and other vacuum-operated systems. The pipe routes between the engine oil feed point and the pump body.

Frequently asked questions

What does the alternator oil feed pipe do on a Td5?
The alternator oil feed pipe supplies pressurised engine oil to the vacuum pump mounted on the rear of the alternator on the 2.5L Td5 five-cylinder turbo diesel. That pump generates the vacuum the brake servo relies on. It fits the Defender and Discovery 2 Td5.
What happens if the Td5 alternator oil feed pipe fails?
A failed alternator oil feed pipe typically leaks oil or starves the vacuum pump, which can leave a hard brake pedal as servo vacuum drops. On the Td5 a split or corroded pipe usually shows as oil around the alternator. Replacing it restores oil supply to the vacuum pump.
How do I confirm this alternator oil feed pipe fits my vehicle?
This pipe fits the 2.5L Td5 engine in the Land Rover Defender (up to 2006) and Discovery 2 (1998-2004). It's specific to the Td5's alternator-mounted vacuum pump, so confirm your engine is the five-cylinder Td5 rather than the earlier 300Tdi before ordering.
