PRC7918 - Coolant Temperature Sensor – 3.9 V8
Threads into the coolant passage at the inlet manifold and reports coolant temperature to the engine control unit, which uses the signal to enrich fuelling during warm-up and to correct the mixture once the engine reaches operating temperature.
A failed or drifting transducer typically shows up as poor cold starting, uneven idle and raised fuel consumption.
