The STC3766B is a front hydraulic damper (shock absorber) for the front axle. It resists and slows the compression and rebound of the front road spring, keeping the tyre in contact with the ground and controlling body movement over uneven surfaces. This is the Boge-branded version.
Which models does the STC3766B front shock absorber fit?
The STC3766B front damper fits the Defender 90 up to VIN WA159806, the Discovery 1 (1989-1998) and the Range Rover Classic. On the Defender 90 the fitment ends at a specific chassis break, so use your VIN to confirm before ordering.
Do I need one front shock absorber or two?
You'll usually replace front dampers as an axle pair so both sides perform evenly, so most people order two for the front axle. Fitting a new damper on one side only can leave uneven damping across the front.
What's the difference between the Boge STC3766B and the Girling version?
The STC3766B is the Boge front damper; it was later superseded to a Girling equivalent (STC3766G). Both cover the same front fitment. If you've been supplied the Girling number, it's the current replacement for the same Defender 90, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic front position.
