Spring Washer - single-coil spring lock washer, 12 mm.

Fitted between the nut or bolt head and the mating face on M12 fastenings, including engine and gearbox mounting bolts and brake caliper mounting bolts. The split coil is compressed flat on tightening and maintains axial load in the joint as the assembly settles, resisting loosening under vibration and thermal cycling.

Supplied individually. Spring washers are a single-use item - a washer that has already been compressed flat has lost most of its spring rate and should be renewed rather than refitted.

Frequently asked questions

What is a spring washer used for?
A spring washer sits under a nut or bolt head to maintain tension and help stop the fastener vibrating loose. The split ring digs into the surface as the joint is tightened.
How many spring washers do I need?
Spring washers are sold individually, so order one per bolt or nut in the joint. Count the fasteners on your job and match the quantity.
Can a spring washer be reused?
A spring washer can typically be reused if it still springs back to shape, but one that's been crushed flat has lost its tension and should be replaced.
