Frequently asked questions

What is the DC5001L rear shock absorber?
The DC5001L is an aftermarket rear shock absorber valved for a +50mm raised ride height on the Discovery 2. It damps the rear axle and suits vehicles running a raised or lifted suspension setup rather than standard ride height.
How many of these shock absorbers do I need?
You'll typically need two, one for each side of the rear axle, since shock absorbers are replaced in pairs to keep damping even. This DC5001L is supplied individually, so order two to do the complete rear axle.
Which vehicles does this +50mm shock absorber fit?
This +50mm rear shock absorber fits the Discovery 2 (1998-2004) running a raised suspension setup. It's matched to a +50mm lift, so confirm your vehicle has raised springs rather than standard-height suspension before fitting.
What are the signs a rear shock absorber needs replacing?
Signs include fluid leaking down the body, a bouncy or floaty rear end, poor control over bumps, and uneven tyre wear. This shock absorber carries a 3 year guarantee. Replacing both sides together keeps the rear axle balanced.
