Banjo Bolt secures the breather pipe to an axle, gearbox or transfer case housing.

The bolt is drilled through its shank and head so that, clamped through the banjo eye of the breather pipe against the casing, it opens a sealed vent path from inside the housing into the pipe. This lets the housing equalise internal pressure while sealing the joint against oil leakage. Supplied as a single bolt.

Frequently asked questions

What is the banjo bolt used for?
This banjo bolt secures an axle, gearbox or transfer case breather pipe to its housing. The bolt is drilled through the head and shank, so once it's clamped through the pipe's banjo eye it opens a sealed vent path from inside the housing into the pipe. That lets the housing breathe while sealing the joint against oil leaks.
How many banjo bolts do I need, and do I reuse the washers?
You typically need one banjo bolt per breather union, and it's supplied as a single bolt. The copper sealing washers that sit either side of the banjo eye are usually renewed whenever the joint is disturbed, since reused washers often weep oil. Check your original for a washer each side.
Which Land Rover models use this banjo bolt?
This banjo bolt fits the Defender up to 2016, Discovery 1, Discovery 2, Range Rover Classic and Range Rover P38. It's used as a breather union bolt on the axle, gearbox or transfer case, so the same bolt covers several housings across these models.
