Land Rover oil pumps, sumps and crankcase breathers, with the other parts of the engine oil system: oil pump parts, oil pans and drain plugs, dipsticks and filler caps, PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve kits and oil separators, and the oil pipes around the engine. This collection holds the oil system parts, not the engine oil itself. Many parts are matched to one engine, so start with the engine code or size, then the part number. Oil filters, oil coolers, and oils, fluids and greases are in their own collections, linked further down this page.

View full detailsOn the Td5 in the Land Rover Defender, the workshop manual has the oil pump draw oil from the sump. About 10% of the flow goes through the centrifuge filter, which drains back to the sump, and the full-flow filter supplies the main oil gallery. A tapping in the filter housing feeds the turbocharger, and the turbocharger oil drain pipe returns that oil to the sump. The collection also covers crankcase breathers, PCV valve kits and oil separators.
This collection is part of Land Rover engine parts. It holds the pump, sump, ventilation and oil pipe parts. Engine breather hoses are in Land Rover turbo, intake and manifolds, and oil pressure switches are with the other switches in Land Rover electrical parts.
OIL PUMPSAn oil pump is matched to the engine code, from the 2.25 and 2.5 litre Defender engines, the 200Tdi and the Td5 to the 2.4 Puma and the 2.2 DW12, the 2.7 TDV6 (276DT) and 3.0 V6 diesel (306DT) and the AJ 4.4 V8 petrol and 4.2 V8 supercharged. The individual pump parts are a rotor set, gears and shafts, a drive sprocket, a chain, a chain tensioner, pressure relief valve plungers and springs, a relief valve plug and kit, an oil pump steel ball, repair kits and the Td5 oil pump chain and sprocket set. Timing belts and timing chains for the camshaft drive are in Land Rover belts, chains and pulleys.
SUMPS AND PLUGSSumps and oil pans are matched to the engine. Drain plugs and sump plugs differ in thread size and type, with sizes as labelled on the product, such as M18 x 1.5. Sump plug washers are listed as separate items. Dipsticks include those for the 300Tdi and the Td5, alongside dipstick tubes, oil filler caps, an oil filler neck and a top-hat breather cap for the filler.
VENTILATIONThe catalogue lists a crankcase breather oil separator, ERR1471, for the 2.5 litre non-turbo diesel, 200Tdi and 300Tdi, and a crankcase breather filter for some V8 EFI (electronic fuel injection) petrol engines. The range also includes PCV valve service kits, crankcase ventilation valves, depression control valves, breather covers and breather tubes, and oil separators with their reservoirs, such as the oil separator for the 3.0 V6 diesel.
OIL PIPESTurbocharger oil feed pipes come engine by engine, such as the 300Tdi turbo oil feed pipe, alongside a turbocharger oil drain pipe, a cylinder head oil feed pipe, a cylinder head cover oil inlet pipe, oil pump inlet tubes and oil return tubes. Oil filter adaptors and a combined oil filter and cooler sit with them, as does the Td5 oil filter rotor.
BUYING GUIDEStart with the engine, and with the model as well where one engine size covers two different engines. A 2.2 litre diesel is a Puma in the Defender and a DW12 in the Freelander 2, Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque, and the two take different parts. In the Freelander 2, the catalogue lists separate upper and lower oil pans for the DW12, with part numbers that change by Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), so for a Freelander 2 DW12 sump check the position and the part number against your VIN. Then decide whether the job needs a complete pump or individual pump parts, such as a rotor set, relief valve parts or repair kits. For a plug, check the thread size and whether it seals with a washer. For breathers, ventilation valves and oil pipes, the part number matters as much as the engine.
Genuine oil pump and sump parts carry the Land Rover part number. OEM oil pump and sump parts come from original-equipment manufacturers. Aftermarket also covers value and off-road brands. Budget Parts carries more than one tier for some of these parts, and the tiers on offer vary from part to part.
SHARED PARTSEach of these part numbers is listed for more than one engine, with the engines as named on its Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) parts catalogue row. Within one engine the part number can still change by VIN or engine number, so check it for your vehicle as described below.
| Part | Engines |
|---|---|
| Oil pump LR013487, superseded by LR123716 | 2.7 and 3.0 V6 diesel |
| Oil pump ERR1117 | Defender 2.25 litre petrol, 2.5 litre petrol, 2.5 litre non-turbo diesel and 2.5 litre turbo diesel |
| Crankcase breather oil separator ERR1471 | 2.5 litre non-turbo diesel, 200Tdi and 300Tdi |
| Oil pump LR006634 | AJ 4.4 V8 petrol and 4.2 V8 supercharged |
| Engine oil pan LR007598 | Defender 2.4 and 2.2 Puma |
These parts span the Land Rover Discovery, Land Rover Freelander and Range Rover families as well as the Defender, and within one model the part can depend on the engine. For older models covered by the catalogues, use the Land Rover parts catalogues to help identify the correct part number before ordering. Quote the full VIN or chassis number, and the engine number where you have it, with any fitment enquiry. The VIN helps check production changes against your vehicle, but some engine parts changed by engine number instead.

Range Rover Sport L320 oil change guide for the 3.0 dieselEngine and transmission oil coolers with their pipes and hoses.
Land Rover oil coolers, pipes and hosesIt is a crankcase breather oil separator. On the Defender 200Tdi listing, the JLR parts catalogue files it in a section called Cyclone Breather. The engines listed for ERR1471 are in the shared parts table above.
Both. The Td5 oil filter rotor is offered here and in Land Rover oil filters, and the same goes for the oil filter adaptors.
No. It is the oil pump chain and sprocket set for the Td5. The Td5 camshaft is also chain driven, by a separate timing chain, and that chain is in Land Rover belts, chains and pulleys.
Yes. The JLR parts catalogue lists one engine oil pan, LR007598, for both the Defender 2.4 and 2.2 Puma engines; check the part number for your vehicle as described above. The 2.2 DW12 in the Freelander 2, Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque is a different engine with its own oil pans.
