Frequently asked questions

What is the NRC6558 fuel tank bracket for?

The NRC6558 fuel tank bracket mounts and supports the auxiliary (extra) fuel tank on the Land Rover Defender Station Wagon (1987-2006). It secures the tank to the chassis and locates it against the underbody. This is a Genuine Land Rover part.

Which fuel tank does this bracket support?

This bracket supports the auxiliary fuel tank, the additional tank fitted to the Defender Station Wagon (1987-2006) rather than the main tank. If you're working on a single-tank Defender, check that your vehicle was actually fitted with the extra tank before ordering.

Where does the fuel tank bracket fit on the Defender?

The NRC6558 bracket fits to the chassis underbody of the Defender Station Wagon (1987-2006), where it cradles and steadies the auxiliary fuel tank. It typically bolts to the chassis rail and locates the tank against the underside of the body.

Why might a fuel tank bracket need replacing?

Fuel tank brackets on older Defenders typically need replacing because of corrosion. Years of road salt and moisture under the vehicle can rust a steel bracket until it no longer holds the tank securely. A corroded or cracked bracket should be replaced to keep the auxiliary tank properly supported.
