The Defender L663 platform

The Land Rover Defender L663 is the current-generation Defender, built on Land Rover's D7x aluminium unibody architecture and produced in Nitra, Slovakia from 2020 to present. It is available in three body configurations: the Defender 90 (3-door), the Defender 110 (5-door), and the Defender 130 (5-door extended, 8-seat). The L663 shares no body panels, drivetrain components, or structural parts with the Classic Defender (L316) that preceded it. Parts from the Classic Defender range do not fit the L663.

Engine variants and parts fitment

The L663 is available with a range of petrol and diesel engines from the AJ200 and AJ300 Ingenium families, alongside a plug-in hybrid variant. The engine fitted to your vehicle determines which fuel system, cooling, ancillary, and filtration parts are compatible. Petrol variants:

The P400e PHEV uses a high-voltage battery system and an additional electric motor alongside the combustion engine. Braking, cooling, and driveline components on P400e models differ from those on standard petrol and diesel variants. If your vehicle is a P400e, confirm the specific component requirement for your variant before selecting parts.

All L663 variants use a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with a 2-speed transfer case providing permanent four-wheel drive.

Air and coil spring fitment

The Defender 110 and Defender 130 are fitted with air suspension as standard across all variants. The Defender 90 is available with either air suspension or coil springs depending on specification. Air suspension components and coil spring components are not interchangeable. Before ordering any suspension part for a Defender 90, confirm whether your vehicle has air or coil suspension.
