De bronzen bus is een nauwkeurige bronzen bus die in de boring aan het small end van de drijfstang wordt geperst. Deze bus vormt het lageroppervlak voor de zuigerpen, die de drijfstang verbindt met de zuigerkroon. Deze volledig zwevende zuigerpenconstructie maakt relatieve rotatie mogelijk tussen de pen, drijfstang en zuiger om de slijtage gelijkmatig over de lageroppervlakken te verdelen. De bus wordt standaard vervangen tijdens de revisie van zuigers en drijfstangen.
