Aftermarket Part
Aftermarket: Quality alternative. This is a quality alternative, designed to fit and function like the original part, often at a more competitive price.

Frequently asked questions

What is included in the Timing Belt Kit?
The Timing Belt Kit contains the timing belt, the belt tensioner and the accompanying gaskets for the 2.5L naturally aspirated diesel and 2.5L turbo diesel. Together they serve the timing drive that keeps the crankshaft, camshaft and injection pump in synchronisation on the Defender up to 2016.
Why replace the tensioner along with the belt?
Fitting a fresh tensioner alongside the belt avoids a repeat teardown if the tensioner bearing later wears. Both parts sit behind the same timing cover, so renewing them together at one service saves stripping the engine front twice.
What happens if the timing belt fails?
A snapped or slipped timing belt loses synchronisation between the crankshaft, camshaft and injection pump, which can cause serious internal engine damage. Renewing the belt as a kit with a fresh tensioner guards against this on the 2.5L diesel engines.
