Knipperlichtrelais is het 3-polige relais in het circuit van de richtingaanwijzer dat de richtingaanwijzers met een regelmatige frequentie in- en uitschakelt.

Het is aangesloten tussen de richtingaanwijzerschakelaar en de richtingaanwijzers en onderbreekt de 12-volt voeding om het knippersignaal te genereren en het verklikkerlampje aan te sturen. De drie aansluitingen voeren de voedingsspanning, de geschakelde uitgang naar de lampen en de pilot-/verklikkerlampverbinding. De knipperfrequentie is afhankelijk van de belasting, dus een defecte lamp wordt weergegeven als een verandering in de knippersnelheid.
