Krukasdemper voor de 300TDi 2.5L turbodieselmotor, gemonteerd aan de voorzijde van de krukas.

Deze torsietrillingsdemper absorbeert de rotatieoscillaties die worden geproduceerd door de dieselverbrandingspulsen, beschermt de krukas tegen vermoeidheid en egaliseert de aandrijving naar de accessoireriem. De buitenste poelieschijf is door middel van een elastomeerelement aan de naaf verbonden; het vergaan of scheiden van dit element is een veelvoorkomende storing die leidt tot verkeerde uitlijning van de riem en trillingen.

What does the crankshaft damper do on a 300TDi?
The crankshaft damper is a torsional vibration damper mounted on the front nose of the crankshaft on the 300TDi 2.5 litre diesel. It absorbs the rotational oscillations from the diesel combustion pulses, protecting the crankshaft from fatigue and smoothing drive to the auxiliary belt.
Why do 300TDi crankshaft dampers fail?
The crankshaft damper fails when the elastomer element bonded between the outer pulley ring and the hub perishes or separates. On the 300TDi this typically leads to belt misalignment and vibration. A damper with a visibly shifted, cracked or separated outer ring should be replaced.
Where is the crankshaft damper fitted on the 300TDi?
The crankshaft damper fits on the front nose of the crankshaft on the 300TDi, driving the auxiliary belt through its outer pulley ring. A failed damper often shows up as belt squeal, misalignment or vibration at the front of the engine.
