Frequently asked questions

What is the throttle body gasket used for?
The throttle body gasket seals the throttle body to the intake plenum on the 4.0L and 4.6L V8 EFI petrol engine. It forms an air-tight joint that prevents unmetered air leaks, which would upset idle quality and fuelling. It fits Discovery 2 and Range Rover P38.
Does this gasket fit all Range Rover P38 models?
It fits the Range Rover P38 4.0L and 4.6L V8 EFI petrol up to VIN XA410482. Later P38 builds use a different throttle body arrangement, so check your VIN before ordering. It also fits the Discovery 2 V8 petrol.
Should the throttle body gasket be replaced every time?
Yes, renew the throttle body gasket whenever the throttle body is removed. The old gasket hardens and takes a set, so refitting it typically causes an air leak. Fit the new gasket to clean, flat mating faces on the V8 EFI engine.
