Achterste dwarsbalk is het dwarse constructiedeel dat de achterkant van het chassisframe afsluit en verstevigt. Omdat modder, strooizout en vuil zich hier ophopen, is dit het meest voorkomende deel van het chassis dat corrodeert, en het wordt als een lasreparatiesectie gemonteerd in plaats van het hele frame te vernieuwen.

What is the rear crossmember and what does it do?

The rear crossmember is the transverse structural section that closes and reinforces the rear of the Land Rover chassis frame. Because mud, salt and debris collect here, it's the most corrosion-prone part of the chassis. This version comes complete with the chassis rail extensions but without spring hangers.

Which Land Rovers does it fit?

It fits the Land Rover Series 2 and 3 at the rear of the chassis. It's supplied with the rail extensions, so it renews the rear crossmember and the extension sections together as one weld-on repair. Land Rover part number NRC236.

How is the rear crossmember fitted?

The rear crossmember is a weld-on repair, not a bolt-on part. The corroded original is cut out and the new section welded in, usually by a workshop. Because it's structural, it's typically best left to someone experienced with chassis welding.

What's the difference between this and the military crossmember?
