Frequently asked questions

What does the NRC4251 brake T-piece do?
The NRC4251 is a three-way brake pipe junction that joins three brake pipes at a single union. It typically distributes the rear brake line across the rear axle, splitting feed to each side. This is the metric-threaded version.
What's the difference between the metric and imperial brake T-piece?
This is the metric-threaded T-piece. Land Rover switched brake unions from imperial to metric threads during production, and the two aren't interchangeable. The thread must match your existing pipe unions, so check which your Defender, Discovery 1 or Range Rover Classic uses before ordering.
Where is the brake T-piece fitted?
The brake T-piece typically sits on the rear axle or chassis, where one brake line splits to feed both rear wheels. It acts as the junction that distributes hydraulic pressure across the rear circuit on the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
Why would a brake T-piece need replacing?
Brake T-pieces typically need replacing when the threads corrode or a union seeps fluid, which can cause a brake fluid leak and loss of pressure. Signs include damp corrosion around the junction or a spongy pedal. As a brake hydraulic part, any leak here needs attention straight away.
