Frequently asked questions

What does the NRC4609 steering drag link do?
The NRC4609 steering drag link transmits steering movement from the steering box drop arm to the swivel steering arm on early Land Rover Defender and Series I, II and III. It's supplied with the rod-side steering damper bracket and measures around 73cm overall.
Does this include everything needed to fit a steering damper?
It includes the rod-side steering damper bracket, but not the chassis-side bracket. Fitting a steering damper also needs the separate chassis-mounted damper bracket, which differs between left and right-hand drive. Order that bracket separately if you're adding a damper.
How do I know when a drag link needs replacing?
A steering drag link typically needs replacing when its ball joints wear, giving free play in the steering, vague response or knocking over bumps. On Defender and Series vehicles, worn drag link joints show as steering wander. Check the joints for play before ordering.
