Valve Stem Oil Seal fits over the inlet valve stems to limit oil consumption past the valve guides in the cylinder head. It is used on 2.25L petrol engines produced up to 1968 and on the 2.0L diesel engine fitted to Series I and early Series II vehicles.

You typically need one seal per valve, so order a full set to match your cylinder head's valve count rather than a single seal. Because the head has to come apart to reach them, most people renew every seal at the same time while the engine is open.

What are the signs the valve stem seals need replacing?
