How many coils does the AJV8 need?
The AJV8 uses one coil-on-plug per cylinder, so a complete set matches your engine cylinder count. Coils tend to age together, so if one has broken down it is common to renew the full set on the Jaguar V8 to prevent further misfires.
What are the symptoms of a failing ignition coil?
A failing ignition coil typically causes a misfire, rough idle, an illuminated engine light and a cylinder-specific fault code. On the AJV8 a coil often fails when hot, so the misfire may be intermittent. Moving the suspect coil to another cylinder helps confirm the fault follows the coil.
