Fits to the underside of the bonnet, where it dampens engine noise transmitted into the cabin and shields the bonnet panel and paint from radiated engine heat. Held by the original clip fixings.
The pad degrades with age and heat cycling - the facing delaminates and the foam backing crumbles, which is the usual reason for replacement.
