Frequently asked questions

What does the BTR1131 heater hose do on a 200 TDi Defender?

The BTR1131 is the return heater hose, carrying coolant from the cabin heater matrix back to the engine cooling system on the 200 TDi Defender. It's part of the circuit that supplies cabin heat. This is the left-hand drive return hose.

Where does this heater hose sit on the vehicle?

This heater hose runs in the cabin heater coolant circuit, connecting the heater matrix to the engine's cooling system. On the 200 TDi 2.5L turbo diesel it typically routes along the bulkhead. It's the return leg, not the feed.

Why do heater hoses like this fail on Land Rover Defenders?

Heater hoses fail because the rubber perishes, hardens and cracks with age and heat cycling, leading to coolant leaks or weak cabin heat. Replace it if you see weeping, bulging or soft spots. A failed hose can let the engine lose coolant.

Which Defenders does the BTR1131 fit?

The BTR1131 fits the Land Rover Defender 1990-1993 in left-hand drive with the 200 TDi engine, from VIN HA700726. Check your VIN against this break to confirm, since feed and return hoses differ by drive side.
