Flywheel Bolt securing the flywheel to the rear flange of the crankshaft.

Used on four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, including the 200TDi and 300TDi 2.5L turbo diesel units. The bolt clamps the flywheel against the crankshaft register, transmitting engine torque to the clutch assembly. Tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque on fitting.

Frequently asked questions

What is the flywheel bolt used for?
The flywheel bolt secures the flywheel to the rear flange of the crankshaft on four-cylinder Land Rover petrol and diesel engines, including the 200TDi and 300TDi. It clamps the flywheel to the crankshaft register so engine torque passes through to the clutch.
How many flywheel bolts are needed for the job?
These are sold individually and the flywheel is held by several bolts, so order the full quantity your engine uses. Count the bolts as you remove them rather than assuming, since the number can differ between the 4-cylinder petrol and TDi units.
Can flywheel bolts be reused or should they be replaced?
Flywheel bolts are typically replaced rather than reused. They're highly stressed and often fitted with thread-locking compound, so most workshops use new bolts whenever the flywheel comes off. Tighten them to the manufacturer's specified torque on refitting.
