Fitted at the thrust main bearing, the washer controls crankshaft axial movement (endfloat), locating the crankshaft fore-and-aft against the block. Thrust washers are available in standard and oversize thicknesses to restore correct endfloat after wear or crankshaft grinding; this is the standard-size washer.
