Brand Polyboots
A-Frame Ball Joint Boot is the protective gaiter that seals the ball joint at the apex of the rear suspension A-frame.

The A-frame locates the rear axle to the chassis through a single ball joint at its forward apex, mounted in the fulcrum bracket. This boot encloses that joint to retain its grease and keep out water, road dirt and grit, protecting the bearing surfaces from contamination and premature wear.

Frequently asked questions

What is the A-frame ball joint boot for?
The A-frame ball joint boot is the protective gaiter that seals the ball joint at the apex of the rear suspension A-frame. It retains the joint's grease and keeps out water, dirt and grit, protecting the bearing surfaces on the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
Where is the A-frame ball joint located?
The A-frame locates the rear axle to the chassis through a single ball joint at its forward apex, mounted in the fulcrum bracket, and this boot encloses that joint. It sits at the top of the rear axle on the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
Why does the A-frame ball joint boot need replacing?
A split or perished A-frame boot lets grease escape and water in, which typically leads to rapid wear of the ball joint itself. Replacing the boot early protects the joint. A torn boot on the Defender, Discovery 1 or Range Rover Classic usually means it's time for a new one.
