OEM: Made by an Original Equipment Manufacturer. This part is made by an original equipment manufacturer or under their license, ensuring compatibility and quality.
A/C Receiver Dryer sits on the high-pressure side of the R134a air conditioning circuit, between the condenser and the expansion valve. It stores liquid refrigerant, filters debris carried in the system and uses a desiccant to absorb moisture that would otherwise freeze at the expansion valve and corrode internal components.

The desiccant has a limited service life, so the receiver dryer is renewed whenever the air conditioning circuit is opened for repair or recharge.

Frequently asked questions

What does the A/C receiver dryer do on a Discovery 2?
The A/C receiver dryer sits on the high-pressure side of the Discovery 2 R134a air conditioning circuit, between the condenser and expansion valve. It stores liquid refrigerant, filters debris and uses a desiccant to absorb moisture that would otherwise freeze at the expansion valve and corrode the system.
When should the Discovery 2 receiver dryer be replaced?
Replace the receiver dryer whenever the air conditioning circuit is opened for repair or recharge. Its desiccant has a limited life and absorbs moisture once exposed to air, so a saturated dryer can no longer protect the system. Fitting a new one is standard practice during any A/C repair.
Where is the receiver dryer located on a Discovery 2?
On the Discovery 2 this is the front receiver dryer, mounted on the high-pressure liquid line between the condenser and the expansion valve. It typically sits near the condenser at the front of the engine bay, as part of the R134a air conditioning system.
