Genuine Part
Genuine: Original manufacturer part. This product is the original part designed and produced by the vehicle manufacturer.
Non-Return Valve for the V8 petrol engine, fitted to the inlet manifold vacuum take-off.

The valve allows air to be drawn one way from the vacuum circuit toward the manifold while blocking backflow, so vacuum is retained in the brake servo line when manifold vacuum drops. This maintains braking assistance under load. A failed valve leaks vacuum, causing a hard brake pedal and loss of servo assistance.

Frequently asked questions

What does the V8 inlet manifold non-return valve do?
The V8 inlet manifold non-return valve retains vacuum in the brake servo line when manifold vacuum drops on the 3.5L V8 petrol engine. It lets air flow one way toward the manifold and blocks backflow, so braking assistance is maintained under load.
Where is the non-return valve located?
The non-return valve fits the inlet manifold vacuum take-off on the 3.5L V8, sitting in the brake servo vacuum circuit. It's part of the servo-assisted braking system on the Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
What are the symptoms of a failed non-return valve?
A failed non-return valve leaks vacuum, causing a hard brake pedal and loss of servo assistance on the V8 Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic. If the pedal feels firm and braking effort rises, the valve is a likely cause.
How do I confirm this valve fits my V8?
This valve fits the Discovery 1 3.5L V8 Twin Carb from VIN FA393361 to WA799999, and the Range Rover Classic with servo-assisted braking from VIN JA610294. Check your VIN against these ranges, as the servo vacuum setup varies across the V8 range.
