Brand PR2 Allmakes OE
Thermostat for the 2.4L Duratorq-TDCi Puma diesel engine, located in the coolant circuit at the oil cooler and filter housing.

The thermostat regulates coolant flow according to engine temperature, remaining closed during warm-up and opening once operating temperature is reached to allow circulation through the radiator. This gives a rapid warm-up from cold and maintains a stable running temperature under load.
Vehicle Model Land Rover Defender up to 2016
Fitment Notes DEFENDER 2007-2016 — 2.4L Duratorq-TDCi Puma diesel. Coolant thermostat (Oil Cooler and Filter section).

Frequently asked questions

What is the 2.4 TDCi thermostat for?
This thermostat manages coolant temperature on the Defender 2.4L Duratorq-TDCi Puma diesel engine. It keeps coolant from circulating until the engine warms, then opens to allow flow through the radiator. That gives a quicker warm-up from cold and a steady temperature when the engine is under load.
Whereabouts does this thermostat fit on the engine?
This thermostat is located in the coolant circuit at the oil cooler and filter housing on the 2.4L Duratorq-TDCi Puma engine. It suits the Defender built 2007 to 2016 with that diesel engine. Access for the job is around the oil cooler assembly.
How can I tell the thermostat has failed?
A failed thermostat typically leads to overheating when stuck closed, or a low gauge reading and slow warm-up when stuck open. On the Defender 2.4 TDCi Puma you may also get poor heater performance. Fitting a new thermostat returns the coolant system to correct temperature control.
