These pads are installed in the rear brake caliper and press against the brake disc to deliver controlled braking force. When fitting replacement pads, retract the caliper pistons, clean the caliper slides and abutment faces, and inspect the brake disc for scoring, heat cracks, and minimum thickness. Pads should always be replaced axle-by-axle.
